Moving on to the rear of the unit, we find all the various inputs and outputs the player is capable of utilizing.
From left to right we have, Digital Optical, Digital Coax, Component, Composite, S-Video, and HDMI.
Above we have a shot of the remote control. Even though the control seems to have a lot of buttons on it, the unit is easy to navigate and well layed out. All your typical controls are there including zoom, subtitles, bookmark, skip chapter, etc.
To help navigate the on screen menus, an easy to use jog wheel is included on the remote.
TESTING:
Using various DVD movies in different formats such as wide screen, full screen and pan scan we tested out the HD-850's capabilities. The first thing we noticed was the increase in picture quality when using the HDMI or a digital connection compared to composite and component connections.
The players HD Up-conversion does a really great job.
By far my favorite feature is the EZ View Letter Box Eliminator. The 850 made short work of all the black on the screen.
If you're looking for a good quality DVD player with plenty of connectivity, and packed with great features you should take a look at Samsungs HD 850 DVD player.
