Your computer's power supply is one of the most important parts on your system. If the power supply is defective it can cause your computer lock up on you, spontaneously reboot, blue screens of death, and other peripherals to stop functioning on your PC. But how do you test if you power supply is faulty? Well you could try another power supply, or even easier you could use CaseBuy's EZ Power Supply Tester 2.
The EZ Power Supply Tester 2 is the new improved version of CaseBuy's popular EZ Power Supply Tester. This handy little gadget lets you test your power supply by hooking it up to the tester and in moments the tester will show the results if it's faulty or not.
The tester is aa one piece unit with connections on both ends , the sides, and a LED display on top. The unit is about the size of a deck of cards and has a brushed aluminum casing colored blue. Instructions are printed on the back of the packaging and on the unit it's self and are easy to read and straight forward.
The tester will test the following power supply rails: +3.3V, -12V, PG (Power Good) +12V +5VSB (5 Volt Standby), -5V and +5V.
Testing is as easy as unplugging your power supply from the motherboard and connecting the tester to it. I suggest you remove all connections to peripherals for a more accurate test result. If you see all the LED lights on the right side light up green and the tester makes a beep sound, then your power supply is ok. If any of the LED lights don't come on you have a problem with your power supply.
One of the new features on the EZ Power Supply Tester 2 over it's predecessor is the addition of a SATA test socket.
The SATA socket allows you to test the newest SATA hard drives.
