The fact that digital consumer electronics are quickly replacing their analog counter parts only proves that it's only a matter of time before VCR's are on their way to extinction. The new players on the market are DVD recorders, cable of burning your TV shows to DVD recordable media. On top of the benefit of better quality recording, DVD's take much less room than a VHS tape. Today we take a look at one such DVD Recorder from Samsung that's capable recording in multiple formats, their DVD-R120 Recorder.
The DVD-R120 DVD Recorder is a multi-format recorder capable of recording video on to the following formats; DVD-RAM, DVD-R or DVD-RW discs.
This player will not record on LD, CD-I, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, DVD+R and DVD+RW Discs.
The DVD-R120 also works as a player capable of playing the following formats; Audio CD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM.
The DVD-R120 is also progressive scan compatible.
Like a VCR the unit has a timer mode for recording your TV shows at a pre-determined time, but it also has a one touch record feature. The one touch record feature works like this: pressing the "Recording" button once will record up to 30 minutes and pressing twice will record up to an hour. Every time you press the button an addition 30 minutes is added to the recording time.
Another interesting feature is the unit has an IEEE I394 DV input terminal on the back. This will allow you to connect and record digital video content from a DV Camcorder.
