To put the pad through its paces i played various first person shooters such as Doom 3, Quake 4, Unreal Tournament 2004, etc over a period of a week.
I must say the 5L Steelpad had me pleasantly surprised. You see i usually prefer a more rigid style of mousing surface. But the 5L Steelpad did prove to be more comfortable and gave me similar results to my hard plastic gaming pad. Tracking was smooth and precise, and the oversized pad comepletely illiminated accidental sliding of the mouse off of the pad.
Another big plus is the rubberized bottom of the pad would stay firmly fixed to the desk, compared to some plastic gaming pads i've tried.
The 5L Steelpad is the perfect hybrid between soft and rigid gaming pads. Those whom like the roll up portability of cloth pads might be put off by this pad at first, but the smooth tracking and precision should win them over in the end.
