Today's computers have become more and more multimedia capable then they have in the past. Users can enjoy watching TV, DVD movies, and listening to CDs on their computers. And with the mass appeal of the MP3 and WMA formats and video equivalents DIVX, XVID, MPEG, etc, audio and video is easily available to anyone with an internet connection. Even today's games have seen a benefit for better audio with the introduction of Dolby, DTS, THX, and Surround Sound in games to make them even more immersive.
With all this media, to really enjoy all this you might want to think about getting a good set of speakers. Those 20$ stereo speakers just won't cut it any more! So today we're going to look at mid range to high end system from Logitech, their Z680 Surround Sound Speakers.
The Z680 is a 5.1 surround sound capable speaker system. What this means is a 5.1 surround sound system includes a subwoofer, four satellite speakers, and a center channel speaker. Unlike a typical home audio surround sound system, the power amp is integrated into the subwoofer box. The Z680 is capable of 505 Watts RMS, and a total peak power of 1000 Watts.
The system is Dolby Pro logic 2 and DTS capable and is THX certified which is the seal of approval for speaker quality.
The Z680 can connect to a PC sound card, CD and DVD players, and gaming systems like Xbox and Playstation 2. To experience the best sound quality on a PC you'll need at least a sound card with surround sound capability. For even better quality get one with digital outputs like optical or digital coax (SPDIF). CD and DVD players must have digital outputs to work with the Z680.
