Above we have a shot of the innovative 'tool less' clip used on the K450. With this clip design installation is a snap. Simply position the clip holes to the cpu socket base on both sides and press the lever down to secure the heatsink.
The K450 came with a patch of thermal grease already on the bottom the heat sink. We removed this as we plan to use Arctic Silver Thermal grease instead.
To calculate the idle temperatures, I gave the computer 10 minutes on its own before writing the temperature down.
Next, using Sandra burn in wizard I allowed it to run 30 minutes and recorded the readings.
We will be comparing the K450 to the stock Heatsink.
The K450 performed quite well, although at higher temperatures the fan does get a bit noisy.
If you want to get better temperature results than stock, Thermaltake's K450 is a great solution to cool down your Opteron or Athlon 64 processor.
Pros:
-Unique designed clip
-Heatpipes
-Copper base
-Temperature sensitive fan
