I'd like to thank Thermaltake for providing us with the Beetle Heatsink for review.
Today we take a look at one of the most original looking heat sink/fan combos that we've seen to date. The Heat sink in question is Thermaltake's Beetle with heat pipe cooling technology. The name Beetle is aptly named, as the unit actually does resemble some sort of flying insect. Looks are not the only thing going for this heatsink, but it also can be used with all
Intel P4 478/775, and AMD K7, K8 processors.
Once the package is open you will discover the Beetle heatsink, all the mounting hardware for the Intel P4 478/775, and AMD K7, K8 processors, and two fan controllers; one for a pci slot and the other can be used in a 3.5" bay.
Above you can see the "Beetle" like wings that really set this unit apart from other heat sinks visually. The fan on the Beetle is a 90mm X 25mm unit with a rate of 1600rpm-4300rpm and produces 20dB-44.5dB of noise. The Beetle also features a Blue LED inside and a flashing LED in front.
Here's a shot of the other side of the Beetle, where you can clearly see the 39 aluminum fins that surrounding the heatpipes that connect to the copper base. As an option, you can mount an 80mm fan to this side to increase your cooling power.
