Product: 11G Wireless Broadband Router and PCI Card
I'd like to thank Mariano of X micro for providing us with the WLAN 11G Broadband Router and PCI Card for review.
Awhile ago we had the chance to take a look at X-Micro's 802.11b Broadband router. Now with the 802.11g busting out on the scene, X-Micro has stepped up to the plate and upgraded the broadband router to the new standard. Today we take a look at this newer version Router and PCI Card that boasts an 802.11g Turbo Mode capable of 108 Mbit/s!
We're going to first start off with the PCI adapter. The adapter comes complete with easy to use instructions and driver CD. The X-Micro PCI card is compatible with 802.11g and 802.11b standards and also supports X-Micros 'Super G' which is an 802.11g Turbo mode, capable of 108 Mbit/s.
The maximum operating range of this card is 300 meters, giving you plenty of range. One nice thing about this card is the antenna is removable. This way you can use a better antenna for even greater range. The antenna socket uses the popular RPSMA format.
As for security, the PCI Card allows you to use one of three encryption methods; WEP, the new WPA and WPA-SK.
WEP encryption is available in both popular standards 64 bit and 128 bit encryption.
