On the back of the unit we have the USB port on the left and on the right the DC input.
Below we find more air vents to help keep the hard drive cool, which is a plus with 7200 RPM hard drives and faster which cause more heat than their predecessors.
With the enclosure opened up we can get a better view of what's inside. A power and ide cable can be seen as well as a
fan that operates at a silent 1500 RPM. The fan has been well thought out and blows air directly onto the hard drive to keep it cool.
Installation couldn't be any easier. After opening up the enclosure you simply plug in the power and ide connector into your hard drive of choice.
Next you put the cover back on, use the four provided screws to fasten the unit together and you're just about done. All that's left if is to plug the power cable in and attach the USB cable from the unit to the computer. If you're using windows 98 you'll have to install the drivers.
The Silver River 3.5" enclosure is a nicely thought out and well designed hard drive enclosure. Add in its stylish looks
and great portability you definitely have a winner.
