Above we have a shot of the Polo 735's bottom. The bottom is very shiny and very smooth with no discernable scratches or pitting.
Most companies would stop right here with just the heatsink, but Thermaltake goes a step further by adding not one but two fan controllers to the package. If you don't want to use the fan controllers you also have the option of having the fan controlled by way of a temperature sensor.
The first controller above fits in any empty pci slot on the back of your computer.
The second, more convenient fan controller fits in a 3.5 " bay on the front of your computer.
Test System
AMD XP 2600+ 333 MHz (AIUHB)
Asus A7N8X Deluxe rev 2.0
Corsair PC2700 XMS 512 MEGS
Thermaltake Damier 5000A Case
Western Digital 80 gig 8 meg cache harddrive.
To calculate the idle temperatures, I gave the computer 10 minutes on its own before recording the temperature down.
Next, using Sandra burn in wizard I allowed it to run 30 minutes and recorded the readings.
We will be comparing the Polo 735 with the Silent boost and Volcano 12.
From the results the Polo 735 and the Volcano 12 are performing around the same numbers. Its not surprising as the Polo 735 seems to be just a 3 in 1 processor version of the Volcano 12. Both have the same fan controllers, 3 blade fan and the heatsink is pretty much identical too.
Pros:
- Copper
- Fits P4, K7, K8 Prccessors
- Thermal sensor fan control
- Nice performance
