I'd like to thank Steven of Bytecc for providing us with the 2 port Auto KVM Switch for review.
Many computer enthusiasts own more than one computer. The second computer could be used as a backup, a server, a firewall, etc. One way to cut down on the costs of setting up a second computer is to use a KVM Switch. These handy little gadgets allow you to share the use of one monitor, keyboard and mouse between computers. Today we take a look at one such KVM from bytecc, their 2 port Auto KVM Switch.
The 2 port KVM Switch is a one piece unit with two cables used to connect to each computer. The instruction sheet is small but the installation is very straight forward and an elaborate explaination is not necassary.
The unit is encased in heavy plastic and is extremely durable. The three LEDS on top of the unit signify PC1, PC2 and Auto Scan. When the green LED is lit, that means the computer on that side is being used. If the red LED is lit it will be in automatic scan mode. Switching between PCs only requires a quick, two-key action (scroll lock), or using the automatic scan feature to easily monitor both computers.
