AMD Barton XP 2600+ Good overclocker even with locked multipliers?
The next settings i tried were a FSB of 196. I had to boost the Vcore up from 1.65 to 1.70 to get into windows but it seemed stable enough. Again i ran another barrage of benckmark and stress tests with no problems. An overclock to 2257MHZ is about 57 MHZ faster than a Barton 3200 XP.
Now because i'm using Corsair XMS PC 2700 and from experience with this stick of memory the maximum it can handle is 200MHZ.
So since the memory is going to hinder overclocking any higher, we come to the last overclocking attempt at a FSB 200MHZ.
Going to 200MHZ i had to move the voltage up another .25 to 1.725 to boot into windows.
For some reason WCPUID reports the FSB as 199.47MHZ instead of 200MHZ, but still that's close to the speed of a Barton XP 3300 if such a processor existed.
In conclusion the Barton XP 2600+ still overclocks very well despite the locked Multipliers. I'm pretty sure i could have got even higher overclocks if i had better memory.
Pros:
-Overclocks nicely
-333 mhz front side bus
-Reasonably priced
