-Fm Radio: Not only is the Neuros an MP3 player it also has a built in Fm Radio.
-FM Broadcasting with MYFI: A very cool feature incorporated into the unit allows you to scan for an unused FM frequency and send your music to a car stereo or home stereo.
-Record to MP3: A built in digital recorder can record in MP3 format the FM radio, voice and sound from the built in microphone, or with an audio input such as a microphone. You can record at the following sample rates: 64, 96, 128, and 160 Kbps.
-Hearit! Save it! with HISI: Now this feature can actually identify new music with an automatic song recognition system called HISI. When you listening to the radio and would like to know the name of a song or who the artist is you simple press the HISI button.
The Neuros initiates a "digital fingerprint" of the song which consists of a 30 second recording of the song.
The next time you connect the unit to computer and start the Neuros Sync Manager software it will connect to the internet and return with the title and artist of the song. It's a free service you can use a much as you like. Sounds like Voodoo to me. :)
-Auto Off: When this feature is selected the unit will turn itself off at a set time; 5, 10, 15, 30, and 60 minutes.
-Shuffle: Randomly plays songs off the Neuros.
-Repeat: Repeat a song once or twice.
-Firmware and software updates: Probably the best feature of the unit. When the unit is connect to the computer and the Sync Manager Software is running you can easily update the unit's firmware and the Sync Manager software. The folks at Neuros are hard at work improving the unit and new features are added with every update. For example i downloaded the latest beta
of the firmware that now gives the Neuros a 5 Band Equalizer! pretty sweet.
Software:
The Sync Manager Software is fairly easy to use. You can check your hard disk for mp3s and import them into the program.
Then it's just a matter of selecting which songs you want by way of the add button and the use the sync button to start transferring to the Neuros.
You can also create playlists of your songs and upload and play them on the Neuros. Another quick way of making playlists is to use the five buttons on the left side of the unit. simply start a song in an album folder and press one of the five preset buttons. Next time you press that button it will play all the songs in that folder.
Once you have your songs transferred to the Neuros you can search for them by way of: Album, Artist, Song, Genre and Playlist.
This is accomplished by the unit reading MP3 id3 tags.
A couple of things that bugged me about the unit was if you're listening to a song and started scrolling through your song library the music stops. I have read though that this will be fixed in an up coming firmware update.
The other which is a minor quip is the headphones are a little lacking in the bass department and a little high on the high frequencies giving a tinny sound. I just used another set of earphones and the sound was fine.
All in all the neuros is a great Mp3 Jukebox Player and will be even better with more firmware updates.
Pros:
- 20 gigs
- MYFI FM broadcasting
- HISI song identification
- Can be used as an external hard drive
-Use Multiple backpacks
-Long battery life
-Record to MP3
Cons:
-Tinny sounding Earphones
-Music stops when you look through the song library
