Vantec 80mm Tornado Fan. Dec 6 2002

Company: Vantec
Product: 80mm Case Fan

My first impressions when i recieved the Vantec Tornado fan was "wow it's thick!". The dimensions for this hefty little fan are 80x80x38mm. It's approximately the size of 2 regular 80mm fans stacked on top of each other.

Specifications are:
-84.1 CFM
-5700 RPM
-.76 Amp
-9.1 Watts
-55.2 dB

One nice little feature, is it has a 3 pin molex that can be plugged into the motherboard to get the RPM's. But the main power uses a 4 pin molex (9.1 watts!).

As for plugging in this sucker, it was a blast!. Literally. This fan pushes out so much air it sounds like a hair dryer.

So i decided to try it out on top of my heatsink, and see what kind of numbers i could get. I ran sandra burn in wizard for 30 minutes and i got these results:

Regular fan: CPU: 65c
Tornado fan: CPU: 59c

6c improvement, not bad. If you can stand the noise. In the near future I'm planning on trying a rheostat with this fan, to see if i can tame the noise of this beast.

PROS
- Very Powerful 84 CFM
- Comes with a fan guard
- Fan rpm wire

CONS
- Loud
