I would like to thank Bas of spire-coolers for providing us the SkiveStream.
Are you looking to upgrade that stock AMD cooler? Well, spire-cooler's SkiveStream is an inexpensive quality heat sink and fan combination which might be up your alley.
The SkiveStream is manufactured out of aluminum with a copper insert. Included in the package is an AMD approved 60mm fan rated at 22CFM, and tailed with a 3-pin molex connector. Also, it comes with an easy to install and remove 3 lug retention clip. A fan guard is also included, nice touch.

The first thing that had to done to this cooler was to remove that factory thermal gunk tape off the bottom. Once this was accomplished, I applied some Arctic Silver to the CPU. Installation of the heat sink went very smoothly, thanks to the well made 3 lug retention clip.
Test System
AMD XP 2600+ 333 MHz (AIUHB)
Asus A7N8X Deluxe rev 2.0
Corsair PC2700 XMS 512 MEGS
Beantech igloo 7 aluminum case
Maxtor Diamond 9 30 gig harddrive.
Next I started up the computer and fired up Sandra do some testing. Selecting the burn in wizard, I let it run for 30 minutes straight.
The results were quite pleasing over a stock AMD heat sink and fan. Though both had similar idle temperatures, the skivestream managed to reduce the full load temperature by 8 degrees more.
The skivestream is a well made little unit, which should suite the needs of the average users cooling needs. Over-clocking enthusiasts though, will no doubt want more cooling than this cooler could ever handle.
PROS
- Good clip
- Copper core insert
- Quiet
- Comes with a fan guard
