I'd like to thank Andrew of Elitecool for sending us the
Galaxy Hard drive Cooler for review.
With hard drives achieving faster RPM speeds an increase in heat is sure to follow. Using a hard drive cooler is a good way to insure long life. Today we take a look at Galaxy's GC815 Harddrive Cooler.
Galaxy's GC815 Harddrive Cooler consists of a copper housing and a 80x80x10mm fan. Power is provided through a 4 pin molex and has a pass through molex so you won't use up one of your power supply lines.
To test the cooler i attached a thermal sensor to the bottom of the hard drive.
Then i let the computer warm up and jotted down the results after it had been on for 30 minutes.
Next i turned off the computer and installed the Galaxy cooler onto the hard drive and repeated what i did before.
The results that i got after i installed the Galaxy cooler was a decrease of 2 degrees Celsius to the hard drive's temperature.
Not too bad results and definiate insurance for longer hard drive life.
You can pick one up at EliteCool.
