How to remove thermal tape off a heat sink January 13th 2003
Now how many times, have you gotten a new heatsink, and flipped it over to find out the manufacturer stuck a big ass piece of thermal tape to the bottom?
Well here's a cheap method of removing that awful gunk. I start by scraping as much as i can with my thumb nail.
Now that you have most of it off, take a cloth and dab a little bit of olive oil on to it. (probably other oils work good too.) Rub the olive oil onto the gunk, and use your thumb nail to remove the stubborn pieces. What the oil does, is it breaks down the tape making it easier to remove. Wipe off the heatsink thoughly.
